A Journey of Preserving Memories and Connecting People

This project was born from a deep personal regret — one shared by so many. Growing up, I was incredibly close to my great-grandparents and grandparents.

I was a good listener as a child, soaking up hours of their incredible life stories. But, like many, I never thought to take notes or ask the deeper questions, because you can’t imagine a time when they won’t be here anymore. Now, I wish I had.

One grandmother left us far too early, my rock, and I miss her every day. My other grandmother is now battling Alzheimer’s, and it breaks my heart that I can no longer ask her the questions I never thought to ask back then. I don’t want this for my children—I want them to be able to remember my life, their grandparents' lives, and be able to refer back to it all, long after we’re gone.

Inspired by this, my daughter and I decided to create this memory journal. It's our hope that by helping families capture these precious life lessons, we can prevent that sense of regret and loss for others. Our book is designed to guide you over the course of a year (just a suggestion here of course), with one chapter every week, so that in 12 months, you’ll have a beautiful, invaluable record of your loved one's life in your hands.

As my dad always says, “Life is a dirty business—we can’t get out of it alive.” But with this book, we can ensure that the stories, lessons and wisdom of the ones we love are never lost.

Why This Matters

The My Life, My Legacy notebook is more than just a collection of memories — it’s a tool for connection, understanding, and reflection. It provides an opportunity to bridge the gap between generations, to hear stories that might never have been told, and to create lasting bonds through shared experiences.

The book offers a set of thoughtful, open-ended questions that guide the conversation. From early childhood memories to relationships, family vacations to life lessons, the book covers a range of topics that spark meaningful discussion.

This process isn’t just beneficial for the individual filling it out — it creates a shared experience, where family members or caregivers can take part, listen, and engage. It encourages anyone to revisit their past and share their wisdom, which not only enriches their own lives but strengthens the community around them.

How It Works

The notebook is structured to make the process simple and enjoyable. Every week for a year (or how often you want really), you can explore a new chapter, answering 4 to 10 questions about various stages and experiences. Whether it’s a group activity between friends or family members, or a personal project, by the end of the year, the result is a precious keepsake that families will cherish for generations.

Not only will this bring joy and purpose, but it will also foster community spirit, offering a shared experience where memories are celebrated and stories come to life.

Join Us in This Journey

This book is not just for individuals — it's also for communities.

Retirement villages, aged care homes, and social clubs can incorporate this into their weekly activities. It’s a great way to stimulate conversation, enhance cognitive engagement, and bring people closer together.
